This broadsheet encompasses the months of April and May. April 2007 marks the month where we had the most public holidays. Amidst these holidays, we should not forget what these days commemorate. Good Friday and Easter Monday commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ following his death by crucifixion. Anzac day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War, and is probably the most important national day of commemoration for Australians.

As one of the five main religions that is often mentioned in the Tao community, Tao cultivators should recognize the significance of the Easter celebrations to Christians all over the world as we seek to broaden our understanding of Christianity. In the same way that Australians commemorates Anzac Day and remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom today, Tao cultivators similarly commemorates the dates of significance of our Tao seniors who also sacrificed their mundane lives in order for us to have the opportunity to receive Tao and cultivate ourselves today.

In the month of May, we are celebrating Mother’s Day which falls on Sunday 13th May 2007. The Children and Youth Groups have been busy preparing performances to be held on the Sundays 6th as well as the 13th at the main prayer hall in Brunswick. Mother’s Day is a day where we dedicate what our mothers mean to us. Many people use this day to specially pamper their mothers. We must remember that our love for our mother should extend beyond this special day for her. We should always show our love and appreciation for them whenever we can.

On our spiritual path, we should also constantly think of our Heavenly Mother and the love she has for us. She is always yearning that we as her children would one day return home and be reunited with her. In order for us to achieve that, we must work on both self cultivation as well as helping others. Self cultivation involves a constant awareness of  self-reflection and getting rid of our bad habits. Besides cultivating ourselves, efforts need to be put into helping others through the propagation of Heavenly Tao so that more sentient beings can be saved from the endless cycle of life and death.

Tian Di Prayer Hall will once again organize a blood donation drive to be held at the end of May. Those who are interested in helping this great cause, please contact Tian Di Prayer Hall. An information session will be held on Sunday 6th May 2007. As the Australian Red Cross says “It takes someone special to give blood’.
