Devotion without retrogression moves man to acknowledge his development, ever propelling him towards the Great Tao which ultimately ensures that he will achieve Wholesome Self-Realisation. “Wholesome” includes complete Self-Realisation and facilitation in the development of the Self-Realisation which is inherent in all others.
TRINITY OF MAN: Spirit, Mind and Physical Body.
A man consists of physical body, mind and spirit; therefore ALL THREE must be reconciled as ONE to sustain LIFE. Like the growth of a tree: the leaves cannot be separated from the stems neither can the stems be separated from the roots. Without nourishment from the stems, the leaves will wilt; without receiving nourishment from the roots, the stems will wither. The leaves, stems, and roots of a tree grow as a whole and not in separate parts.
The establishment of the spirit and the mind when in rapport is known as Self-Realisation; the manifestation of spiritual beauty through physical efforts develops the Self-Realisation of others. Having acknowledged the Great Tao and the ability to perceive his natural spiritual perspective, man is extremely fortunate. He may, with his own persistent efforts, abate all malicious elements and delusions of his mind so that it becomes illuminated like a lamp which is able to dispel even the darkness of an immensely old and secluded valley. In its place is manifest a vast wealth of intuitive knowledge. When the purity of man’s true nature blossoms, all depraved thoughts are eventually cleansed by his will which develops a state of chaste sincerity. Then the mind of man is put right.
With moisture from the rain, plants grow strong and robust; similarly the cultivation of man’s mind will guide him to set the five cardinal principles and eight moralities (axiom systems of men’s behaviour) upon his Conscience. When he does this man personalises his natural virtuous essence.
Five Cardinal Principles
Benevolence, Righteousness, Propriety, Wisdom, Trustworthiness
Eight Moralities
Filial Piety, Fraternity, Loyalty, Trustworthiness, Righteousness, Integrity, Modesty

What constitutes the greatness of man?
As far as perfection is concerned, man must not rest with what he has, but must continuously strive for excellence. A truly virtuous man not only has to wish to establish and fulfill the will of the “real person” within himself, with unremitting sincerity he seeks also to promote and fulfill the reality of others. To convert an ignorant person from the error of his ways means to save a soul from the jaws of death, and ultimately prevent a multitude of sins from being committed. The way of demonstrating GENUINE LOVE is to pour forth and sharing the knowledge of TRUTH which unfolds and unites the brotherhood of mankind.
Moreover the purpose of disseminating the Great Tao today is to save the world of people from the process of foreboding disasters to the creation of a better future. A future of love and perpetual peace – Universal Harmony.
In order to attain the summit of a high peak, a man must first start from the bottom; to accomplish a journey of a thousand miles, he must start at the beginning. Likewise, to achieve Universal Harmony a virtuously cultivated man begins with his family.
Regulation of his family depends upon proper examples set in accord with his determined yet compassionate type of nature. The encouragement of ethical conduct among members and friends of the family, things like the affectionate love of the parents, filial piety of the children, fraternal submission and courtesy between brothers and friends; brings cordiality and good will in all relations.
The loving example set by one family where true harmony is practiced, may influence a whole neighborhood. The practice of such conduct is transferred from that one regulated family to another and another until it becomes widely practiced. When this prevailing mood of harmony is fully realised by the people it is pleasing and gratifying and they are influenced to become naturally loyal. The behaviour of people being loyal, benevolent, and righteous towards each other will continue until it fills the entire country, thus peace and good order is preserved everywhere.
On the other hand the selfish ambition and perseverance of one man can cause turmoil throughout the country and this, no doubt gives birth to widespread distress and instability. This is borne out in the saying: “One rascal can ruin the whole community.”
It is therefore of great importance for a man to be as close to fully self-developed as possible before he can develop and assist in the propagation of maturational activities of others. Great is the man whose determination is set upon advancing the Complete Virtues of the Great Tao.
The brilliant outcome of contentment and orderliness in a country is the effective utilization of Spiritual Truth. But the glory of the Divine Aim is not to be confined to one country alone, its ultimate aim is that it be established and practiced in all parts of the world. This is so that the joy of sublimation may come into full bloom with Universal Harmony as the result!
