Tiandi Temple was established in 1985, on the 21^st day of the11th month of the Lunar Calendar in Nunawading. In 1994, the temple was temporarily shifted to Victoria Street , North Melbourne and in the same year, it became officially known as as the Australian Confucius Mencius Morality Society Incorporated.

The objective of the society is to promote morality by spreading the teachings of Confucius and Mencius. Confucianism believes that moral education should start by having love and respect between members of the family. The teachings can be sumarised briefly in a few points:

a) Love Others

b) Honor your parents

c) Do what is right rather than trying to gain advantage

d) Do unto others what you would like others to do unto you

e) To rule by example rather than by force of violence

Only when one person change himself/herself for the better can he/she convince others to do the same. Over the years, the temple has actively participated in visits to old folks homes,contributed to the Red Cross blood donation, participated in Clean Up Australia Day and various other fund raising activities.
