Tao Te Ching is a famous Text of Taoism and has many popular translations in many languages. As part of the ACMMS English Translation Program, we have decided to translate Tao Te Ching and distribute it freely for the general public.

There are already many good translations in the market and we are not trying to another one which is so called "The Best Translation". What we are trying to achieve is to make the concept of "Tao" easily understood by any common layman. Our translation for every chapter consist of 2 parts, a raw translation and an interpolation. In the raw translation, we aim to stick as close to the original text as possible while in the interpolation, we write our thoughts on the chapter, making ideas on "Tao" more readable.

We hope that our work can benefit anyone who has interest in eastern philosophy or spiritualism. If you have any comments or ideas about our translation, feel free to email

Best Regards, The ACMMS Tao Te Ching Group
